Reading & Writing

One module. Twelve skills. Mastered one at a time.

The digital SAT folds Reading and Writing into a single module. PrepifyMe trains every skill in that module, in the order that helps you most.

The format

Short passages, one question each.

The Reading & Writing module gives you a short passage and asks one question about it — then a different passage, then another. PrepifyMe's question bank mirrors that format: every question is tagged with the specific skill it tests, so the engine can tell whether you're strong on transitions but weak on rhetorical synthesis — and adjust accordingly.

Question types include standard multiple choice and drag-cloze (drag the right word into the blank) — both formats you'll see in the app and on the test.

Transitions
The composer's early symphonies were widely dismissed as derivative. ______ his later work, with its bold tonal shifts, would be hailed as a turning point in 20th-century music.

Vocabulary in context

Words mean what the passage means.

The SAT doesn't test memorized vocabulary lists anymore. It tests vocabulary in context — picking the word that best fits the meaning, register, and tone of a specific passage.

That means flashcards barely help. What helps is repeated exposure to real SAT-style sentences with feedback when you pick the wrong shade of meaning. The daily quiz pulls these from the bank every time you log in.

Drag-cloze: words in context
The chef decided to season the soup with herbs to enhance the natural flavors.

Writing, the SAT way

Grammar and rhetoric, not essay writing.

The Writing half of the module isn't about composing essays. It's about editing: picking the right transition, fixing a comma splice, deciding which sentence belongs in a paragraph, synthesizing notes into a single coherent statement.

These are pattern-recognition skills. The fastest way to build that pattern recognition is one question at a time, every day.

Every skill, tracked

The 12 skills, grouped into 4 categories.

Information & Ideas, Craft & Structure, Expression of Ideas, and Standard English Conventions — the four categories the SAT tests, broken into 12 specific skills. PrepifyMe tracks your mastery of each one independently.

When you open your dashboard, you don't just see “Reading & Writing: 74%.” You see exactly which skill is dragging you down, and the next quiz is weighted accordingly.
